Thank you for your interest in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
and Paralympic Winter Games.
The location of wheelchair accessible seating varies
depending on venue, everywhere from ice-level to concourse level seating. Wheelchair-accessible
seats are available at all venues and can be requested through the ticketing
process. Each wheelchair-accessible seat has one companion seat next to it.
Regarding accommodation, in addition to traditional hotels
in the MetroVancouver area, many visitors to the Games will be able to stay in
other regional centres including the Fraser
Valley, while others may
choose non-traditional accommodation.
Visit www.2010DestinationPlanner.com, the official source for
spectator accommodation for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter
Games or contact the accommodation provider directly.
You may also wish to contact Tourism BC www.hellobc.com or Tourism Vancouver

for more information on accommodations.
There should be minimal impact for persons with disabilities
travelling to Olympic events as the public transit system - the recommended
travel mode for spectators - is 100% accessible. In addition, VANOC will provide
an accessible shuttle from specific transit stops that are located a more
moderate distance from the venue.
TransLink, the public transit authority in Metro Vancouver,
will also be providing increased HandyDART service through an additional 30
HandyDART vehicles Several community shuttles will also be retrofitted to accommodate
a greater number of passengers with disabilities.
In addition, VANOC has identified a drop-off and pick-up
zone at most venues for taxis and we are currently looking to identify an
additional loading zone for other vehicles that need to drop off or pick
up. It is important to note that there will be no public parking at any
of the venues. From the drop-off zone, ticket holders will enter the
venue after passing through security and anyone requiring assistance to their seats
will be provided the necessary support.
If you are travelling from Metro Vancouver to an event held
at Cypress Mountain or Whistler, the Olympic Bus
Network (operated by VANOC) will be fully accessible.
